SABC journalist Kgomotso Sebesto, a seasoned journalist who had what friends and collegues called a vast knowledge of the political landscape, was killed in a car accident at the age of 44.
The accident took place in Ga-Rankuwa, right after Sebesto had gone to visit his mother for Mother's Day on Sunday. Police say his car crashed into a truck and was then taken to the hospital in serious condition where he died Monday morning.
The SA National Editors Forum spokesperson Femida Mehtar said "Sebesto was regarded as one of South Africa's finest journalists."
Sebesto worked as a bulletin writer for the SABC from 1987 to 2001. He returned in 2008 to be a senior political reporter. Because of his many years in the industry, Sebeteso was one of South Africa's most experienced political journalists.
